Last weekend I needed a quick project – one that I could start and finish in a day. I’m in the middle of making two big quilts and don’t anticipate finishing either of them until 2013. So, with an urge to cross something off my list, I whipped up this little pillow. I purchased the fabric at Marden’s in Maine earlier this year, and as we were admiring its vintage feel, my friend Stephanie said, “This needs to be a pillow, it’s so grandma chic!”
So perfectly grandma chic indeed, and as a recent visitor also said, “It reminds me of orange sorbet.” The pillow adds a touch of softness to the starkness of my contemporary furnishings. It measures approximately 19″ x 19″ and is finished with a 1/4″ bias binding. Overlapping panels on the backside are held together with three light wood buttons. Now you’ll have to excuse me, I’m off to my local bodega to pick up some yummy sorbet.

So yummy n comfy!
That is just dreamy. Love that color.
Great colors and lovely pillow!
Your commenter was right, this fabric definitely did need to be a pillow. Exquisite work, as always, Kirsten. Wish we lived closer. And hope you are doing okay, having lights, snow removal, etc.
Fist time commenter, long time reader here. The visitor who said the pillow reminds them of ‘orange sorbet’ sounds like he/she is really, really smart, a person that definitely has the mind an artist and knows how to describe art to any layman — they just might be a Picasso in their own right. You can’t keep better friends, they definitely make you a better person, Kirsten Jane.
I hold the orange sorbet person very close to my heart – I’m very lucky to be surrounded by intelligent, insightful, and loving friends!
I LOVE this! I wish I could get one in green.
That orange color and stitching detail are simply beautiful!
Beautiful! Definitely Grandma Chic (I just love that term!).
Greatjob!!
